| Dr. Mehmet Unsoy spent about 3 years with BT, BT Wireless and O2, as CTO, and VP Chief Architect. Initially he was responsible for steering the 3G direction for BT's mobility assets in 17 Joint Ventures, including BT Cellnet in the UK, and 16 others in France, Germany, Spain, Italy, India, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Australia, Canada and the U.S. He established the technology evolution and the associated vision and socialized it with almost all the joint ventures. BT's Sphere magazine wrote an article in 2001, which was a testimony to Mehmet's efforts and evangelizing of a vision for the evolution of the wireless Internet services on BT's and O2's mobile operators. |
Dr. Unsoy was subsequently responsible for all end-to-end technology issues and challenges of the 4 mobile operators 100% owned by O2, namely O2 UK, O2 Germany, O2 Ireland and O2 Holland. As CTO / VP Chief Wireless Architect, he served as the Single Design Authority (SDA) and had the ownership of end-to-end architecture which includes terminals, radio, core networks, services, portals, OSS and BSS / IT systems.
- He led a team of architects, responsible for achieving common and consistent technology and architecture, and leverage synergies across the businesses to achieve significant financial benefits; worked with the CTOs / CIOs of the operating companies to deliver on the fiscal commitments.
- He initiated numerous technology & architecture projects, reviews, evaluations to address challenges / opportunities in areas such as 3G terminal architectures, radio infrastructure sharing, common IP networks, IP charging/billing, end-to-end IP security, common service enabling platforms, service middle-tier, messaging services evolution, end-to-end service management, MVNOs, BSS alignment across 4 operators, and common information storage architectures, to name a few; demonstrated significant influence at all levels to steer the architectural direction of O2;
- He defined and initiated the Pan-European common service layer architecture for O2, spanning 4 operators, demonstrating significant cost & time-to-market benefits; Unified Messaging service for BT Wireless was initiated to demonstrate the value of common mobile multimedia services;
- He developed the O2 technology roadmap, with strategic & tactical recommendations in mobile devices, radio networks, core networks, service layer, mobile portals, OSS and BSS; held extensive discussions and negotiations with our key suppliers to influence and align their product roadmaps.

Since September 2002, Dr. Mehmet Unsoy has worked with a large number of TMT companies and Venture Capital around the world. Most of these clients were directly through MUNSOY LTD. For some of these clients and the associated projects, Dr. Unsoy served on the executive and/or advisory boards of these companies. Most of the projects involved strategic advisory for the business and corporate direction of the young companies, and in some cases, strategic assistance with several rounds of fundraising, as well as merger & acqusitions. Dr. Mehmet Unsoy joined Cartagena Capital in 2004, as a Partner. Since then, he has contribute to projects involving Cartagna Capital clients, primarily in two complementary roles:
- As CTO-at-large, he has provided technical, strategic and industrial assessmentof the client and potential client companies, as well as provided ways to enhance positioning of these clients in their eco-system for optimal valuation with the investors and potential acquirers.
- As a partner in the U.S., he has provided access to the VCs and potential acquireres in the U.S. for the mostly European clients of Cartagena Capital.
